Happy to inform Your Lordship that I have received from the Assistant Military Secretary a copy of a Telegram which has been sent to the Major General Commanding referring to War Office letter of the 9th August 1875, and intimating that correspondence on financial matters is to pass through the Senior Commissariat officer and not through the Assistant Military Secretary.
I have accordingly directed the Military Contribution for the last Quarter to be paid direct to the head of the Commissariat.
And I am in hopes that there will be secured by the removal of the difficulty recurred by Major General's instructions to make all communications between the Colonial Government and the Military Authorities, subject, financial or otherwise, through the Assistant Military Secretary.
